The Lord's Church

A People Belonging to God (1 Peter 2:9-10)

CORE BELIEFS
OF THE LORD’S CHURCH

God - We believe God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. Our God is love.He is holy, good and eternal, who was and is, and is to come. Our God is sovereign, and has the ultimate authority and power over everything. (Genesis 1 & 2, Psalm 24:1; Mark 10:18, Acts 17:24-25; 1 John 4:8; Rev 1:8; 4:8)

The Father – We believe we serve one God and Father. Our Father loves us and is one with Jesus. (Genesis 1:1; 34:6; John 12:49, 14:6-11, 23:16-27; Acts 4:12; Romans 4:11; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 4:6; 1 Peter 1:10; 1 John 3:1)

Jesus, the Son - We believe Jesus is God, yet also the only begotten, fully divine Son of God. Jesus, our Lord and Savior, is the head of the church, his body. He died in the body and was raised from the dead in a body, on the third day, offering resurrection to all who believe and obey Him. He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through him. His blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness. (John 1:1, 1:9, 3:16, 14:6, 10:1-21, 30; Acts 2:22-40; Romans 1:4, 6:4-11; 1 Corinthians 15:4; Ephesians 5:23; Philippians 3:21; Colossians 1:15-23, 2:9-15; Hebrews 1:8, 9:14; 1 John 1:1-4)

The Holy Spirit - We believe the Holy Spirit is God, and lives in all that are in Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 Timothy 1:14)

The Bible - We believe the Bible is the inspired, unerring word of God. (Psalm 1:1-4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

Faith - We believe faith is trusting God’s words are true and that He does what He promises. Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:1-3,6)

Sin - We believe all men and women sin, thereby separating themselves from God. All people everywhere are called to believe, have faith, repent and be baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of their sin. (Romans 3:23; Acts 2:36-41)

Salvation - We believe God has given us a way to salvation from sin through his Son, Jesus. Jesus took the punishment for the sins of the world upon himself. He died in our place so that we would not be judged for our sin. By faith and through God’s grace, we who are sinners and former enemies of God, have been brought into fellowship with God. This forgiveness is a gift and a demonstration of God’s love for us. It can not be earned. (Genesis 1:1; 24:6; Matthew 1:21, 20:28, 26:28; John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:8, 12-20;1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 2:1-10; 1 Peter 1:10, 3:18)

Heaven - We believe God will reward the faithful with eternal life in heaven, with Him. (2 Corinthians 5:15; Ephesians 2:1-7)

The Church - We believe the church is the body of Christ and we are members of it. Those that are baptized into Christ are raised to live a new life of discipleship to Jesus and service to His church. (Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 1:27, 12:14-27; Ephesians 2:1-10)
