The Lord's Church

A People Belonging to God (1 Peter 2:9-10)

Shepherding, Caring and Community

The shepherding, caring and community core ministry area contains the work of the church that addresses the work needed to befriend, care, protect and support each church member, as they walk with God. In this way, the church family of fellow-workers will be friends as well as “our brother’s and sister’s keeper”. The Lord’s Church congregation uses three specific strategies to make this work for us:

  1. Community Groups - Providing a social network, relationship building, and encouraging spiritual growth linked with the live activities of the body.

  2. Family Time Together Ministry – Using Christian activities to socially connect with people in all walks of life.

  3. Benevolence Ministry – Using of the congregation’s hospitality and generosity to help others that have spiritual and/or physical needs.

Community Groups

The Lord’s Church congregation will positively impact our members by promoting spiritual growth and maturity, edifying relationships, and by being the “home base” for building up our new members of the church. In addition to weekly bible studies, we use other activities to promote and encourage spiritual maturity. These other activities include: prayer nights, brother and sister spiritual nights out, service projects, evenings for sharing and accountability, devotionals with other congregations or community groups. Our community groups meet one night per week. Plans are developed on a quarterly basis (13 weeks) with approximately eight or nine meetings per quarter. Hospitality is a cornerstone of our community group meetings and interaction.

Benevolence

The vision for this ministry is that everyone in this congregation has access to the tools and provisions that will ensure their physical needs are met. People benefiting from this ministry shall give praise, honor and glory to God. The Benevolence Ministry will assist those receiving long-term help from the ministry to move toward financial/physical independence. In addition to helping our own church members, the leaders of this ministry will strive to stay in contact with the local community. We will offer ourselves as a dependable resource able to reach out and assist the community we serve.

Family (Congregational) Time Together

When The Lord’s Church congregation gathers together, church members and those outside the church see, sense, and hear of our sincere and authentic love for one another. Whether it is a party, cookout or field trip, we will infuse a spirit of Christian teamwork, deference, and humbleness into each activity. We invite people at all walks of spiritual life to share in the Christian relationships and friendships that we hold in high esteem.
